Kyu, the desktop companion by GetKyu · Last updated: August 31, 2026
These terms are a license agreement between you and GetKyu ("we", "us") for the Kyu desktop application (the "App"). By installing or using the App you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. The App is a productivity companion and is not directed to children.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on devices you own or control, for your own use. The App is licensed, not sold; purchasing GetKyu grants you this license. Your purchase is completed through Polar, our merchant of record, under their terms as well. We also plan to sell on Steam; a copy bought there is completed under Valve’s terms instead. Any optional paid upgrades or subscription we may add later are described at purchase and governed by these terms plus the store's terms where applicable.
You may not: (a) extract, unpack, copy out, or redistribute the artwork, 3D models, animations, or other assets bundled with the App, whether in original or converted form — portions of these assets are licensed to us by third parties on the condition that they remain embedded in the product and protected from extraction; (b) resell, rent, sublicense, or redistribute the App or any part of it; (c) circumvent the App's asset protection or license mechanisms; (d) use the App to violate any law or third-party right. You may inspect and back up your own data (chat history, memories, settings) freely — that data is yours, and restrictions in this section apply to our and our licensors' assets, not to your data.
The App stores your data locally on your device; we operate no server and hold no copy (see the Privacy Policy). If you configure third-party services — an AI provider key, a mail account, a calendar URL, or tool servers — your use of those services is governed by your agreements with those providers, you are responsible for the associated fees and credentials, and we are not a party to that relationship. Keep backups of anything important: because we hold no copy of your data, we cannot restore it for you.
Responses generated through an AI provider are machine output and may be inaccurate. The App's briefings, summaries, reminders, and wellness nudges are conveniences, not professional, medical, financial, or legal advice, and not a substitute for your own judgment (or an alarm system for critical events).
A copy bought here checks a static file on our website now and then, tells you when a newer version exists, and lets you download it. A copy bought on Steam is updated through Steam instead. We may change or discontinue features as the App evolves.
The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App will not exceed the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim (or US$10 if you paid nothing).
This license ends automatically if you materially breach these terms (in particular Section 4). You may end it at any time by deleting the App. Sections 4, 8, 9, and 11 survive termination.
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which GetKyu's principal place of business is located at the time a dispute arises, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction. We will identify a specific governing jurisdiction here when GetKyu's business entity is formally established.
GetKyu is sold as a one-time purchase through Polar, our merchant of record, which handles payment, applicable taxes, and your receipt.
All purchases are final — Kyu is a digital download, delivered instantly. That said, if something went wrong — a payment mistake, a technical problem, anything — email getkyu.ai@gmail.com and we'll make it right. Steam purchases follow Steam's own refund policy. Nothing here limits refund rights you have under applicable law.
We may update these terms as the App evolves; the current version will always be posted at this address with its date. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Third-party asset and open-source attributions are listed inside the App: Settings → "What we made and what we borrowed".
